(6/6) You don't need a solid Halloween haul to get into the general "scare me a bit but not too much cos I'd quite like to sleep tonight" spirit. As a kid, you could sit cross-legged on someone's floor in total darkness, point a torch nicked from the kitchen up at the ceiling from under your chin and make it your mission to scare the shit out of your friends with a slow-building urban legend. With that in mind, @gorillaz decided to share some of their favorite ghostly stories with us. We're not selfish, link in bio for the full stories. And Happy Halloween. | © instagram.com/noisey

(5/6) “I like your English ghosts because they are polite and dress nicely (Victorian revival is hot in Japan right now) but let's be honest—they are not very scary. In Japan, we have the kamaitachi, weasel monsters with claws so sharp that no blood is spilled, and you don't know you've been cut until you realise bits of you aren't where they used to be. But they are little babies compared to Jorogumo. She's half-woman, half spider, all-badass. She seduces stupid men then wraps them in her web and eats them……..” - an excerpt from @watashiwanoodle's story "Flesh rots and peels off like hot ramen strands" | © instagram.com/noisey

(4/6) “Yeah, I'll tell you a story about a ghost. One by the name of Timothy Claypole, spook for hire. Dude used to dress up like a psycho court jester. Anyways, back when I first came to the UK, Lil Russel landed himself a gig as a runner on his TV show, Rentaghost or some shit. One day, Claypole jingled up to me in the studio. Said he dug my vibe, talked up a possible promotion. Then he offered me a toke on this weird voodoo pipe he carried under his jester hat. Next thing I knew, I woke up with a sore head, and it's dark. Real dark. Musty, too.” - an excerpt from Russel’s story "I woke up with a sore head, in the musty dark" | © instagram.com/noisey

(3/6) “My old Grandpop was very good mates with Edgar Allan Poe. The two of them used to get slotted on booze and opium then go out punching cows 'til the early hours. Wonderful man, Poe. My dad used to read me his horror stories before bed until I cried myself to sleep. One of my favorites was Berenice, a charming little yarn about a bloke called Egaeus who's about to marry his cousin. Not because he fancied her or anything, but because she already lived in his house and he couldn't be arsed to go out. Makes sense, really. Anyway, tragically, before they could wed, Berenice dies of a horrible deteriorative disease, leaving nothing behind but her teeth…….” - an excerpt from Murdoc’s (@nonsobersabbath) story "Egaeus suddenly noticed his bloodied dental equipment" | © instagram.com/noisey

(2/6) “I don't really like ghost stories. Being in @gorillaz has been like one long ghost train. My nerves are regularly shredded, like Murdoc's tax returns and subpoenas. But OK, I'll tell you a story 'cos my therapist says it's good to talk. Once, a few years ago, Murdoc asked me to go back to the house and fetch his lucky thong from the cupboard. I wouldn't have minded except we were in Fiji at the time. Anyway, after I hiked back out of the jungle, hitched a ride to the airport and flew back to Heathrow, I made my way home. At first, everything seemed normal……..” - an excerpt from @gorillaz.2d’s story "The sound was coming from the cupboard" | © instagram.com/noisey

FINALLY!! Since 1926, a law has made it illegal to dance in a large majority of New York City's bars and nightclubs, but according to a report from 'The New York Times,' a bill to repeal it is expected to pass on Tuesday, October 31. For nearly a century, the so-called Cabaret Law has been used to police the playing of music and social dancing in New York City establishments. Though it has changed over the years to relax its strictures on musicians themselves, the ban on dancing has withstood multiple attempts at repeal since its institution the Prohibition era. But now, a bill to repeal the law introduced by councilman Rafael Espinal will be voted on by the city council on Tuesday. Espinal tells the Times that he has ensured the 26 votes necessary to pass it. One of the reasons the bill has stayed on the books for so long is that, per a 1987 New York Times story, it has been used to effectively police fire safety and occupancy rules. But over the years, activists and journalists have also noted that the law has a "racist legacy." Tens of thousands of venues operate without cabaret licenses, the chances that any one of them will be breaking code on a given night are pretty high. Activists say, however, that it has been used disproportionately on establishments—and performers—most often frequented by people of color. In the 1990s, for example, it has been argued that Rudy Giuliani's "quality of life" campaign used the law to directly police "Latin clubs above 59th Street." | © instagram.com/noisey

Travis Scott and Manhattan venue Terminal 5 are both being sued by a man who says he was pushed off of a third floor balcony during Scott's show there in April, a new report by the New York Post states. 23-year-old Kyle Green alleges that fellow concertgoers pushed him after being encouraged by the Houston rapper. Right after that April show, footage of Scott surfaced, which caught him screaming, "I see you, but are you gon' do it? They gon' catch you. Don't be scared!" to onlookers. After falling, Green hit the floor, suffering injuries such as a fractured vertebrae, a broken left wrist, and fractured right ankle. Another video shows Scott ordering security to drag the wounded fan to the stuff so he could give him a ring off of his finger. "They didn't put a backboard or a neck brace on me or anything, they just kinda lifted me up and pulled me around," Green told the Post. "Then they dropped me in front of the stage." He is now paralyzed on his left side. | © instagram.com/noisey

Musician @toriamos, a supporter of the US charity RAINN (the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network), was recently photographed by Richardson for a Cult Icons spread in V magazine. Having become aware of the many claims of abuse against him, however, she has since released a statement explaining that she was unaware of them before she worked with him. On Facebook, she wrote: "For the upcoming edition of V Magazine, I along with others took part in a photo shoot for their Cult Icons portfolio. The magazine had commissioned the photographer Terry Richardson to take these shots. At the time, I was not aware of the various accusations made against Richardson, had I been I would never have taken part. I am disgusted by the nature of the allegations and can only stand strong with the women who were subjected to this abuse over the years. As the first spokesperson and longtime supporter of RAINN, the Rape Abuse And Incest National Network, I can only hope that we all continue to speak out and break the silence about these kinds of abuses and stand strong together against these predators and those who support them." | © instagram.com/noisey

O, in her early 20s at the time, sang grievances about boring stability and the construct of coolness. "Black Tongue" is an anthem; it's a fissure. Perhaps it is just to one person with whom O is quarreling, but one can easily slip into and relate to the haughty defiance of the track. With the huffing and puffing "ha!" and squeaking "uh!" over guitarist Nick Zinner's tight strings, we know O is not really ready to fuck around—and neither are we when singing it. It's been a tough week for the New Zealand National party. First they lost the national election to the Labour Party and earlier today a New Zealand court found them guilty of ripping off Eminem's "Lose Yourself." New Zealand's high court ruled that the National party's use of a track titled "Eminem Esque" during the 2014 election campaign was "sufficiently similar" to the Detroit rapper's original song that it impinged on copyright. The great musical brains over at Fox News are continuing to piss themselves for attention, stretching out this Radiohead debacle way past its logical end. Basically if you're unfamiliar with the situation (lucky you), a comedian named Kat Timpf appeared on the network's Greg Gutfeld Show earlier this month, discussing the nominations this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. During that appearance, she called Radiohead "just elaborate moaning and whining over ringtone sounds." She also said that the men she dates are "trange, malnourished, and sad," and commented that they always like Radiohead. It was very droll. There was a whole thing. Jonny Greenwood changed his Twitter bio. The end.Except, not the end, because it got a bunch of press coverage and this is Fox News. Timpf has since appeared on the show again, suggesting that she should go as a Radiohead fan for Halloween, based on her previous description. Host Greg Gutfeld then saw this as his moment to really Weigh In, stating the following, which I am going to block quote because it is so monumental: "You know, Radiohead is a fine band, but they stole everything from Coldplay. Like Radiohead is the poor man's Coldplay." 2017 continues to be weird as hell. | © instagram.com/noisey

Alice Glass left Crystal Castles in 2014. She had been the group's frontperson since their formation in 2006. At the time, she cited "personal and professional reasons" as the reason for her departure. But now she has come forward to say that she left the band after enduring years of alleged abuse at the hand of then-bandmate Ethan Kath (whose real name is Claudio Palmieri). In a lengthy post on her official site she claims Kath abused, assaulted, and intimidated her throughout the band's entire existence. She says the abuse started when she was 15-years-old and goes on to further allege that Kath was domineering, monitoring every facet of her life.Glass had previously hinted at this history in interviews, telling the Verge in 2014 that Kath was "not an appropriate artist to be performing at a feminism-centric event" when the Glass-less Crystal Castles were booked for a Tumblr event. We'll update this story as details emerge. | © instagram.com/noisey

On Monday, Rolling Stone published an interview with a young woman who'd previously spoken to Buzzfeed News, alleging that R. Kelly abused her over a two-year period. Kitti Jones, a former radio DJ on local Dallas, Texas station 97.9 The Beat, told Rolling Stone that she met Kelly at a concert afterparty in 2011, and she later embarked on a relationship with the singer, quitting her job and moving to his home in Chicago. During that relationship, which took place between 2011 and 2013, she claims that Kelly physically beat her, coerced her sexually, and controlled many aspects of her life. She also told Rolling Stone that the women in relationships with Kelly are allegedly discouraged from getting to know one another with the threat of physical violence, saying "If you disclose your relationship with him [to another woman]—how long you've known him or whatever—you can get beat." Jones alleges sexual abuse, specifically detailing experiences of being coerced into sex with other women, which she told Rolling Stone that Kelly would watch. "You just become numb to what's happening. It's so traumatic the things that he makes you do to other people and to him," she stated. In response to the Jones' accusations and the Rolling Stone article, Kelly's lawyers have stated: "Mr. Kelly is aware of the repeated and now evolving claims of [Ms Jones]. It is unfortunate that Ms Jones, after public statements to the contrary, is now attempting to portray a relationship history with Mr. Kelly as anything other than consensual involvement between two adults. As stated previously, Mr. Kelly does not control the decision-making or force the actions of any other human being, including Ms. Jones, by her own admission. Any claim of wrongdoing of any kind or of mistreatment of any woman by him is false, ill-motived and defamatory." | © instagram.com/noisey

Over the years, the 'FIFA' video games have become (and still are) a major catalyst for music, one that facilitated the diversification of tastes in a time when distinctions between genres was still a bedrock of music criticism—and of the social dynamics between adolescents. It was a series that steered music trends starting in the hodgepodge early 2000s, thus enabling the hybrid cross-pollination of one genre into countless subgenres, and finally landing, albeit for purely capitalistic motives, in the great harbor of globalized music. Perhaps that is why, despite now having spent a full year in the public eye, Mr. Khaled has not yet granted any journalist a full interview: though he is a keen Instagram user, he's also particularly private, and has so far been successful in sharing his life with the world directly, without press mediation. To read our “interview” with the youngest mogul out here, head to Noisey.com. (6/6) ? @_joelbenjamin_ | © instagram.com/noisey

There is a simple answer. He is the son of @djkhaled and @therealnictuc, born on October 23, 2016. But his was no ordinary birth. He arrived in the world with a global audience watching, via his father's Snapchat channel. The account had previously gained internet prominence for the elder Khaled's unrelenting positivity, life tips ("major keys"), and one particularly gripping saga involving a jetski. @asahdkhaled quickly took to the family penchant for social media, launching his own Instagram account at under three months old—his first post was captioned "Bless Up World, I'm Here!"—and he has a knack for self-representation. There are many ways to describe @asahdkhaled. His father, the eminent rap and R&B producer DJ Khaled, offers a few. A don. A mogul. An icon. And while his 1.6 million Instagram followers and circle of friends and admirers among whom Nicki Minaj and Migos are counted would certainly agree, Asahd, in public at least, remains humble, happy, and unbothered. He is an individual of few words, and though he keeps fans abreast of his activities with online updates (recently: "Thanks @esquire for having me as part of your century of style feature!!!!") he still carries with him an air of mystery. And so the question remains: beneath the gold chains and Gucci, who *is* Asahd Khaled? (4/6) | © instagram.com/noisey

In 2017, the cultural landscape is saturated with constant noise, and silence is rare. Some influential figures—@beyonce, Frank Ocean—are selective about when they speak and what they show to the world, making their voices all the more powerful when they do decide to talk. It's a discerning move that often marks them out as people of thoughtfulness and prestige, as though they are above adding to the continuous drone of opinions. Another can be added to their number. That person is @asahdkhaled. (3/6) | © instagram.com/noisey

“A while ago I was thinking about how, when someone's an important cultural figure, one of a few prestige publications will usually capitalize on their prominence by sending a writer to spend time with them and then write about it in a very serious and smart way. I noticed that @asahdkhaled—icon, legend, mogul, boss—fits this criteria, but nobody has profiled him yet?? Well, until now, when I definitely went to meet this one-year-old child and find out how he's surfed this wave of success.” (2/6) | © instagram.com/noisey

Scott Putesky (standing on the right), better known as founding Marilyn Manson guitarist Daisy Berkowitz, has died. The news was reported by Rolling Stone, who cite Putesky's former band Jack Off Jill as their primary source. Putesky had been battling colon cancer since August 2013. He was 49.Putesky and Marilyn Manson, then Brian Warner, formed the band Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids in 1989. It was also Putesky, building off Warner's original idea of the Manson character, who decided that all the band members' aliases would be mashups of American sex symbols and serial killers. His own name, Daisy Berkowitz, came from Daisy Duke and David "Son of Sam" Berkowitz. Putesky played guitar and was a primary songwriter on all the group's releases up to 1996's breakout 'Antichrist Superstar.' RIP. | © instagram.com/noisey

It's tempting, but naïve, to believe that culture progresses in a straight line. Bury the past, and you risk never learning from it. Case in point: we made Danielle Bregoli a thing. In September last year, the then-13-year-old and her mother first appeared on Dr. Phil. Bregoli was a classic troubled teen – acting out, getting in fights, stealing cars – with a twist: her put-on blaccent was ridiculous. When the show's studio audience dared to laugh at her, she threatened to fight them: "Cash me ousside, how bow dah?" Responded Dr. Phil, "I didn't get that… are you speaking English?" Here was the clearest case yet of cultural appropriation that ridiculed itself. Surely this mini-Rachel Dolezal was too laughable to be harmful? But Bregoli was endearing despite herself, like a puppy trying to bite your leg off. Head to Noisey.com to read the piece in full. (4/4) ? Ashley Goodall | © instagram.com/noisey
